The shimmering water of the Gulf of Mexico stretched out before us, a definitive milestone on a long journey. Though lacking the powder-white sand and azure waters of the “Redneck Riviera,” the Texas Gulf Coast offered a taste of the familiar, providing tangible evidence that we are in fact getting closer to home.
After a harrowing trip through Houston, we settled in at Sandpiper RV Resort in Galveston content to enjoy the weather and the island’s offerings.
We enjoyed good seafood from Shrimp N Stuff and Bahama Buck’s proved a favorite dessert destination.Of course, the beach is always entertaining.
We did venture out to the Houston Space Center. Houston does have a problem, but it has nothing to do with space travel.
Fortunately, the Space Center is on the south side and we did not have to endure the complete craziness of a drive through town.

Houston is unique in that it displays the Boeing 747 used to ferry shuttles landing in California back to Florida.
Yes, L, there is a Space Station up there…
Nice that you are getting closer to home ! We all miss you here.
We are definitely missing friends and family!
When are you expected to arrive back?
Our return is up in the air. We are still enjoying the ride. We are definitely going to do the Everglades and Keys and head up the coast to South Carolina. That would take us well into April. We may even tour New England before coming home. L would really like to see NY City. Early July would be the latest return date. We’d like to have a few weeks to settle in before school starts.
